The dense, lush waterfall of blooms in this carpet comes from a pattern on antique Imari porcelain. O'Brien’s instinct was to create a modern structure to contain this sweeping floral, with a center panel offset from the same motif in a bold, wide border. A play of positive and negative color bridges the two elements – a dark border with a light center, or the reverse. Three tone-on-tone colorways, in shades of gray with periwinkle or black, or in sandstone, also update the pattern.
