Designed to work equally well in contemporary or traditional homes, Antiquity was inspired by a visit to a recent exhibition at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London of the work of Regency designer Thomas Hope. “Hope was the world’s first interior designer; he was determined to reform contemporary taste in the early 19th century by returning architecture, interiors and furniture to the spirit of classical purity,” Drake says. In Antiquity classic Etruscan and Greco-Roman architectural motifs of silk embellish a subtly colored border against a wool neutral field creating a rug that is classical in personality yet simplified for 21st century homes.
