What’s black and white and abstract all over? Fashion for 2012.

We’ve always been a fan of couture designer Carolina Herrera’s elegant clothes, so it’s no wonder we’re thinking alike when it comes to color. Straight off the runway for Spring 2012, Herrera’s silk Gazaar blouse ($1590 at Saks) is printed with a graphic abstract pattern that reminds us of Safavieh’s new Retro collection of shag carpets introduced last week at the Atlanta International Rug Market.

Black and White prints are more muted, abstract and faded in 2012 as seen in a new Marc Jacobs dress also for Spring 2012…

…And the Nars pillow in White Frost to be introduced at Las Vegas Market by Safavieh.

Safavieh channels the Sixties with this its Retro shag rug collection, a cool new spin on the essential floor covering of Mid-century Modern style.
The perfect complements to clean-lined furniture of the period, these chic black and white rugs morph into tones of gray, silver and ivory in patterns from Pollack-inspired abstracts to contemporary graphics. Machine-loomed in Turkey of 100 percent polypropylene, our low-pile Retro Shag rugs combine beauty, easy care and outstanding performance.
