What a thrill to see the new rug by Thom Filicia for Safavieh in the February 2012 issue of Architectural Digest magazine. It’s in the Discoveries section of new products selected by the magazine’s editors each month. Actually the editors “discovered” the new Wellwood rug, part of a complete collection of rugs made from eco-friendly hemp fiber, at Safavieh’s High Point, NC showroom last October. Thom is a proponent of green design and his collection is truly unique–very casual. We worked diligently to get the effect of wool–albeit coarse wool–using the sustainable hemp yarn.

The Arch Digest editors loved the lustrous texture and rich, deep colors achieved with natural vegetable dyes, especially the Wellwood color way called Indigo Spectrum.
