High point market was abuzz last week with the launch of our first pillow collection during the international furniture market. Thanks to great publicity in all the trade books distributed at market, buyers and designers flocked to our showroom for a peek at this hot new addition to Safavieh’s total home lineup.

The debut collection includes 50 SKUs, with designs and fills segmented by retail channel of distribution.  For furniture stores, upper-end home furnishings retailers, catalogs and websites the line is directional and fashion-forward in color and the use of natural fabrics.  For mid-tier channels, Safavieh’s pillows combine fashion and quality at value prices.

The collection has been sourced, developed and designed by Tiffany N. Yaraghi, product manager for Safavieh’s pillow line.  “Inspirations for this collection include the trend to vivid colors, often softened with white, and patterns range from Suzanis, to modern lace interpretations, to Moroccan motifs.  “Our pillows complement the newest looks in furniture and fabrics, and will not be adapted from our rug designs.  The pillow collection is designed to make a fashion statement as a standalone line, exactly the same way that retailers would program and display them in stores,” Yaraghi said.

Fabrics chosen for the first collection include cotton canvas with hand-stitched embroidery, 100 percent cotton, hand-woven cotton novelty fabrics, and easy-care polyester.  Fill content is either a down and feather blend or polyester. The pillows are made in India, China and throughout Europe, and will be available for pre-summer delivery.   18-inch square and 22-inch square sizes will be offered.  Suggested retails start at $45 for the 18-inch size with feather and down fill.

The pillow collection expands Safavieh’s reach as a total home supplier with rugs produced in all major weaving centers of the world and a complete line of accent furniture and upholstered collections made in China and Southeast Asia.
