Safavieh will introduce a new collection of eight Jamie Drake rugs at the company’s World Market Center showroom, Space A-101 during Las Vegas Market, Monday Jan. 30 to Friday, Feb 3. Drake, winner of the 2012 Design Icon Award presented at market, will be on hand at the showroom to launch the rugs at a luncheon sponsored by Safavieh and World Market Center on Wednesday Feb. 1 from noon to 1:00 PM held to celebrate the award.
Design Visionary Jamie Drake named 2012 Design Icon by World Market Center.

Celebrate Jamie Drake’s award and be the first to see his new Power Loomed rug collection for Safavieh.
The new collection will include high quality hand-tufted and loomed rugs created in response to retail demand for designer styling for fashion-conscious consumers, said Arash Yaraghi, company principal, in making the announcement. “These consumers want the same high end looks, but in more affordable rug qualities than the couture collection’s hand-knotted Nepalese rugs,” he explained, noting that the new collection will be marketed separately from Safavieh Couture.

Brussels by Jamie Drake for Safavieh – “I have always loved lush florals, and my Brussels jacquard weave brings the bountiful beauty of a floral tapestry to the market,” Drake says.
“Safavieh has developed an exciting new quality crafted of organic viscose yarn for the sheen of finely-woven silk carpets. It is rich and textural with motifs in plush cut pile against a ground of chenille loop pile. The combination is a great dimensional canvas for the bold pattern and color I love,” added Drake.

Alhambra by Jamie Drake for Safavieh:
“An arabesque design is a classic that looks so right today when rendered in a clean graphic way. Alhambra is bold and elegant; its sensuous geometry is a great foundation to build a room around. Its ombre pile is a lustrous yet practical counterpoint to the tightly woven ground in this jacquard beauty,” says Jamie Drake.
Power loomed in Belgium, the new rugs will retail for $199 in 6×9 and $499 in 8×10. Collections in this new weave will be introduced at High Point Market in April 2012 from additional Safavieh Couture licensing partners.
