Wow! It was standing room at Safavieh’s Las Vegas showroom on February 1, where over 100 buyers and designers celebrated Jamie Drake’s Design Icon award from World Market Center. 

Everyone who heard Jamie’s presentation at the awards ceremony followed him over to Safavieh’s showroom to toast the legendary designer and get a sneak peek at his new rug collection.

Jamie introduced eight new rugs exemplifying his legendary use of brilliant color.  He presented the collection during lunch, explaining that the rugs give high end looks, but in more affordable rug qualities than the hand-knotted Nepalese rugs he designs for Safavieh Couture.

The new collection by Jamie Drake (center) includes power loomed jacquard  rugs created in Belgium  in response to demand from fashion and value-conscious consumers, said Arash Yaraghi, left, company principal.   Cyrus Yaraghi, right, said the new rug quality is crafted of organic viscose yarn for the sheen of finely-woven silk carpets.

 “These new rugs are rich and textural with motifs in plush cut pile against a ground of chenille loop pile. The combination is a great dimensional canvas for the bold pattern and color I love,” added Drake.

The rugs are stunning in pattern and colors remarkably like the palette Jamie used for the recent Maison de Luxe Showhouse sponsored by Luxe Interiors + Design magazine.  Thirty leading designers participated in creating rooms for the 55-room Tudor style Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills.

Of course Jamie did lots of custom for the showhouse, but color is king in his new Safavieh collection—and these rugs truly are affordable.
