Ever since Architectural Digest published photos of the idyllic vacation home used as the stage set for the honeymoon scenes of the blockbuster movie, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, we’ve been mesmerized.
But the more we look, the more we think this dreamy tropical home on the coast of Brazil between Sao Paolo and Rio de Janeiro could use the warmth of indoor/outdoor rugs.

Endless decks overlooking the sea include dining areas and conversation seating groups that could be anchored by easy-care outdoor rugs.
Here are a few we picked from Safavieh’s Courtyard collection that are pretty and practical: Sand from the beach won’t bother them; sun, rain and mildew won’t either.
This border design (CY1551) with tropical leaves against a terracotta ground would perfectly frame a dining room table:

Several great designs in the Safavieh Courtyard collection might be used to decorate the sitting area on this fabulous porch:

We think this setting would be united beautifully by a rug in coordinating tones like Safavieh’s style CY2727:

Designers tell us that they’re using rugs like those from Safavieh’s Courtyard collection as coordinates inside and outside the house. They really do allow for seamless integration of living spaces, especially in beach houses.
So what rug do you think has the right “personality” for the Breaking Dawn stars: Romantic, bold, contemporary or traditional?

The damask design CY2714 (above) is overall and subtle; the elaborate border rug CY1704 (below) has a bit of contrasting, but (still subtle) color:

This gorgeous retreat was designed by Brazilian architecture firm Bernardes + Jacobsen, celebrated for their imaginative tropical-modern houses. We love the photos shown in Arch Digest’s January 2011 issue taken by Iain Kemp. Though not many of us could afford Bella & Edward’s honeymoon getaway–it’s reportedly available for rental for anywhere from $3900 to $8400 a night–we can still dream.
In the meantime, we can wait for Breaking Dawn Part 2 —and decorate our own back porches in time for summer.
