SAFAVIEH - The Polonaise Collection In the early 19th century, European travelers brought lavish Polish designs of French influence to the court weavers of Isfahan. Inspired by these designs, a new category of rug called Polonaise carpets was subsequently created by these highly skilled artisan weavers. The new vegetable-dyed colors in Safavieh’s collection are equally rich, but upscale contemporary interpretations of those in prized antique carpets. The sumptuous rugs are shown in directional fashion combinations of peach and gold; cream and chartreuse; and in exotic jewel tone solids, including teal blue and rose red. Safavieh’s Polonaise rugs are hand knotted in Pakistan of 100 percent hand-carded wool, hand-sheared for a low sheen.
